Onward and Upward to Canada

Kelowna utilized a dominant start from Josh Nuerenberg (2-2) on Wednesday afternoon to lead the Falcons to a 4-2 victory over the Klamath Falls Gems at Kiger Stadium.

Nuerenberg went seven innings on the day, allowing just two hits, striking out four and allowing no Gems to cross the plate.

The Falcons tallied their four runs off Klamath Falls right-hander Tanner Irwin (2-3). The Fresno Pacific product was strong over the first five innings, allowing no runs, however four in the sixth and seventh were more than enough to lead Kelowna to the win.

Against reliever Brett Solano in the eighth inning, the Gems tacked on their two runs coming in the form of Jay Anderson and Steven Packard.

A long bus and ferry trip up to Victoria, BC awaits Klamath Falls next. The team is scheduled to leave the Kiger Stadium parking lot at 1:00 a.m. and arrive in Victoria in time to get ready for a 7:11 p.m. matchup with the HarbourCats. All the action can be heard on ESPN 93.3 FM and 960 AM with the voice of the Gems, Erik Oas.
